==============================================================================| ................................CIVILIZATION III.............................. ==============================================================================| Sid Meier's Civilization III is a turn-based strategy computer game by Firaxis Games, the successor of Sid Meier's Civilization II and followed by Civilization IV. Also called Civ 3 or Civ III for short, the game is the third generation of the original Civilization. The game offers highly evolved gameplay in terms of both mechanics and strategy. Civilization III, like the other Civilization games, is based around building an empire, from the ground up, beginning at start of recorded history and continuing beyond the current modern day. The player's civilization is centered around a core of cities that provide the resources necessary to grow the player's cities, construct city improvements, wonders, and units, and advance the player's technological development. The player must balance a good infrastructure, resources, diplomatic and trading skills, technological advancement, city and empire management, culture, and military power to succeed. ==============================================================================| Publisher............: Atari Platform.............: PC Windows Release date.........: October 30, 2001 Genre................: Turn-based strategy Mode.................: Single-player multiplayer Media................: CD ==============================================================================| SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Operating System.....: Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP Processor............: Pentium II 300MHz (Pentium II 500 MHz recommended) Memory...............: 32MB RAM (64 MB recommended) Hard Disk Space......: 500MB free hard drive (+50MB for swapfile) CD-ROM Drive.........: 4X Speed or higher Video................: DirectX 8.0a Sound................: DirectX 8.0a compatible sound card ==============================================================================| Install Read INFO.nfo (in notepad) Play and Have Fun ==============================================================================|
What do I use to mount an image or watever
You can use daemon tool to mount an image.
Read INFO.nfo (in notepad)
Or use PowerISO
Or use PowerISO
actually the torrent contains a daa file. Therefore, you cannot use daemon tools to mount the image
Crap. Doesen't work! Missing dll file.
It works fine. It is actually one of the best CivIII torrents I've installed. Follow the directions!!! Mount with PowerIso
I had the same problem. Mounted with Iso followed instructions but still got "missing dll"
I followed the instructions but 'binkw32.dll' is missing.
Hm.. it's weird.
PowerIso wont let me mount the image, even though it should be capable of mounting .daa images. What could be the problem? I have used poweriso many times before, but never had this problem.

Works perfectly, I originally had a problem with it crashing during the industrial age but I re-installed followed his directions and made it all the way through to the space age A+++ no problems
if you can't mount a daa with poweriso, just find a daa converter to convert it to an iso and you'll be able to mount it with poweriso or daemon.
For the people missing the binkw32.dll:

okay every one you see the icon that says civilization 3 in your folder that you download? it is an exe file. replace the one in the c drive>program files>infogrames interactive>civilization 3 with the one that you downloaded. mount the image on the drive and ta-da the game works. read the directions for heavens sake.
I need help, i play civilization works perfectly but when arrives in the industrious age, crash going to the desktop.. HELP PLEASE.
What can I do when PowerISO can't open the file, and when i mount it with Daemon, Windows can't read it?
Never had problem with this before!
Never had problem with this before!
Ok don't actually click civilization.exe you have to run setup.exe to install it. But works great now, I had the problem of it crashing also but all I did was closed unnecessary programs that might drag it on my single core comp and assigned to 1 core on my dual core, which seemed to have fixed that.
I downloaded the Bink thing, that didn't seem to do anything, so i found the actual dll file, downloaded it, only to get an error that the dll is installed incorrectly.
Halp!
Halp!
Also, to Neusyn: What setup.exe?
This is actually a superb release, smaller in size than most others. Thank you very much for "adjusting" and sharing eyezin!
@MrPumpkin:
He's talking about the SETUP.EXE inside the CD-ROM-Image. Further, if BINK hasn't been installed correctly, you might consider uninstalling and reinstalling it. Make shure you have administrator rights etc. - or just ask the neighbour kid for help.

i can't read the info and i've done pretty much everything that's been suggested
It wants me to insert a cd. What am i doing wrong?
This is what i did it took me several hours to figure out and im a layman. Ive got a small laptop and no cd rom drive and vista and its now working ok:)
1) google 'binkw32.dll' and download it
2) odwnload a trial copy of expresszip (or whatever its called) and extract the binkw32.dll to my windows/system folder (check its there)
3) got full version of poweriso from this website, installed and registered (unsure if trial version will work)
4) unzipped the Civ folder
5) went inside and found system.exe, run this and installed typical (not minimum)
6) run the patch that came with the torrent
7) run divx in the civ 3 folder
8) copied and replaced the civilisation 3.exe (not the one in the CIV 3 folder) with the one in infogames folder in my c program file
9) then it worked

What can we do about the crash when we get to the the industrious age?? Thanx
i cant get this to mount to ANY ISO or deamon tools on the net. im gonna die if i cant get this game going! help please, i need a simple break down of what to do after i have installed the game. all i need is for it to recognize my "non physical" CD drive to mount it to
ok these directions are much easier. 1open with power iso. extract the files into a folder. 2.google for a CIV 3 crack. should be on first page. replace the CIV III.exe with crack file. and poof it works. no headache of mounting ISO or converting it! it runs great. enjoy. keep seeding :D
can someone make a video showing the steps because i wont be able to do it with just reading it plz help
I followed the steps to the end. Only one problem. After i was done, i clicked the civIII.exe file to run the game. The problem is, absolutely nothing happens. I already got the bink.dll so what is next, why wont it run.
